Heat Wave Car Maintenance

Don’t Let the Missouri Heat Wreck Your Ride

We’re deep in the middle of a classic Missouri heat wave. The kind that melts your seatbelt buckle and makes you question every outdoor plan. But while you’re staying cool, don’t forget about your car. Extreme heat can be brutal on your vehicle, especially if it’s not ready for it.

Here are a few quick things you should be keeping an eye on:

1. Check That Battery

Hot weather is just as hard on your battery as the cold. High temps can cause battery fluid to evaporate and shorten its life. If yours is more than 3 years old, come by and we’ll test it, takes just a few minutes!

2. Keep an Eye on Your Fluids

Engine oil, coolant, transmission fluid, brake fluid, they all matter when it’s hot out. Low or old fluids can lead to overheating or mechanical damage real quick. Let us check and top everything off before you hit the road.

3. Your A/C Needs Love Too

This isn’t the time to mess around with weak air conditioning. If your A/C is blowing warm or not keeping up, don’t suffer through it. We can inspect it and make sure it’s running ice-cold like it should.

4. Tires Get HOT

Heat causes air to expand, which means your tire pressure can spike fast. Overinflated tires can lead to blowouts, no one wants that on Highway 47. Let us check and adjust your pressure to keep you safe.
